"Six construction workers and a doctor killed in a 'dastardly' terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir."

A terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal district resulted in the deaths of six construction workers and a doctor. The workers, who were building a tunnel, were targeted by terrorists who opened fire on their camp. The victims included both locals and non-locals, and the attackers left behind an INSAS rifle. The area has been cordoned off, and a search is underway to find the terrorists.

The victims were identified as Dr. Shahnawaz from Nayidgam, Kashmir, Gurmeet Singh from Gurdaspur, Punjab, Mohammad Haneef, Faheem Nasir, a safety manager, Kaleem, all from Bihar, Anil Kumar Shukla, a mechanical manager from Madhya Pradesh, and Shashi Abrol, a designer from Jammu. Two vehicles of the company were also burnt in the incident, and media access to the site has been restricted.

Omar Abdullah, the newly-elected Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, condemned the attack, calling it a "dastardly and cowardly attack on non-local laborers." Jammu and Kashmir Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha, assured that those responsible for the attack will be brought to justice. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi also condemned the attack, emphasizing the need to stand united against such acts of violence.

This attack follows the recent swearing-in of a new government in the Union Territory and is one of the deadliest incidents in recent times. It occurred shortly after the first elections since 2014, which were significant following the removal of Article 370.
