3 Journalists from Paradip Face Extortion Charge, To Call for Investigation on Oct 21
Bhubaneswar: Acting on a plea filed by the Supreme Court to the Odisha Vigilance, the Jagatsinghpur collector has ordered three journalists stationed in Paradip to appear before it for probe into their alleged participation in extortion and collecting of money for work.
The three journalists – Jananjaya Mohanty, Dushmanata Majhi and Bibhuti Das – have reportedly been extorting money from industrial facilities in the Port town and also collecting money from job hopefuls on the pretext of obtaining them jobs.
While Majhi and Das work for major daily Odia, Mohanty works for a leading TV station.
"The letter to the collection office reporters was reported as saying that you're collecting money from I OCL, IFFCO, PPL, Carbon Factory, ESSAR, Kargil Factory, and Paradip Port."
They were summoned to attend at 11 am on October 21 for an inquiry in the collector's office.
On 22 October industrial plants were requested to join the test. On the following day, the petitioner will show his side of the tale.
