Bhubaneswar: On Saturday, tigress Ankita gave birth to five cubs at Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) in Bhubaneswar for the second time.
The red tigress gave birth to the cubs in the zoo's enclosure No. 31. According to sources, one of the five cubs was stillborn.
The four newborns are all red. Both the mother and the cubs have been monitored by CCTV.
According to zoo sources, tigress Ankita is taking good care of the newborns. Zoo officials are also taking precautions to ensure their safety.
After mating with Royal Bengal Tiger Nandan, Tigress Ankita reportedly became pregnant. This was her second child.
The tiger population at Nandankanan now stands at 31, including seven white tigers.
Rupa, the white tigress, gave birth to three cubs in Nandankanan in January of this year.
