A proposal for the creation of a special battalion to enhance security at the Puri Jagannath Temple was discussed in a Standing Committee meeting.
The committee members engaged in detailed discussions about the development and security of Srimandir, as well as ways to improve the organization and efficiency of devotees' darshan arrangements.

The Standing Committee of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, Committee-1, visited the Srimandir in Puri on Tuesday. They held discussions with the Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannatha Temple Administration (SJTA) on various issues. The committee talked about the development and security of Srimandir, as well as how to improve the arrangement for devotees' darshan in a more disciplined and streamlined manner. They also discussed developmental works around the temple with officials from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and talked about compensation for the 'Daitapati' servitors for not allowing entry of devotees atop the chariots during Rath Yatra.
The committee also inquired about the money spent under the 'Kotha Bhoga Dhana Yojna' and discussed the steps taken by SJTA for the smooth management of Srimandir. Sidhant Mohapatra, the chairman of the Odisha Legislative Assembly Standing Committee-1, mentioned that the main focus of the discussion was on the security of Srimandir. He also mentioned a proposal for a special battalion for the temple's security arrangement.
