Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has directed Collectors and SPs to take action to prevent "obscene" acts and dance during the state's Jatra and melody programs.

"People are finding it difficult to watch these entertainment programs with family members because of the excessive display of vulgar dance and double meaning dialogues," according to the Odia Language, Literature, and Culture Department.
It went on to say that, in addition to destroying the state's tradition and culture, such vulgarity and double meaning songs and dance have a negative impact on the youth.

The department has asked officials to make the restriction clear when granting permission for such shows. "In the event of a violation, appropriate action will be taken against them," it added.
