The owner of a bar and his associate were arrested for allegedly harassing and torturing bar girls in the Dhauli area of the Capital City. The accused duo has been identified as Shiva Prasad Mallik and his associate Jyoti Prakash Nayak.
According to sources, at least six bar dancers worked in the bar owned by Shiva. The owner, along with Jyoti, threatened the victims and kept them in captivity without paying their dues for the last six months. The victims alleged that they were forced to perform explicit dances and immoral acts without their consent. They were made to work overtime late at night without any pay, and were allegedly threatened and scolded using filthy language by Shiva and Jyoti if anyone dared to ask for their wages.
The matter came to light after the girls informed the Commissionerate Police's 'HER Team' about their situation. The Commissionerate Police then conducted a surprise raid at the bar, rescued the girls, and arrested the accused owner and his associate.
Based on the statements of the victims, a complaint has been filed, and further investigation into the incident has been launched. The two have been taken to court.
However, Shiva has refuted the allegations and claimed he was innocent, stating that he had cleared all their dues.
