Youth From Odisha Swindled Out Of Over Rs 4 Lakh By Cybercrime In Chhattisgarh

Jagatsinghpur: Another individual from Odisha is said to have recently lost more than Rs 4 lakh as a result of cyber fraud.
Rakesh Swain, who hails from Bilapokhariapada village in Jagatsinghpur's Kujang block, reportedly moved to Chhattisgarh to work in a company about five months ago. He had managed to accumulate money from his income after working for so long to celebrate his sister's marriage.
On August 15, he received a message on his cell phone telling him to update his PAN card by clicking a link provided in the message. Rakesh continued clicking the link step by step without considering that it might be a message from online fraud.
He finished the process in three steps and then received notification from his bank that Rs 4,48,999 had been taken out of his account. When he contacted them, bank representatives confirmed that money had been withdrawn from his account via e-banking.
Rakesh reported the cyber scam he had been the victim of to the Chhattisgarh local cyber police station. He said in a video message that despite almost two months having elapsed since he reported the incident, the cyber police have neither located the fraudster or recouped his money.
He has asked the Odisha Police for assistance and made an appeal to get his money back so he may officiate at his sister's wedding.
It should be noted that a young person from Jatni in the Khurda area was allegedly honeytrapped and conned out of Rs 71,000 a few days ago by a cyber scammer. Another similar incidence occurred recently when a Bhubaneswar guy attempted to book an e-bike online and was scammed out of Rs 48,500.
