Woman Commits Suicide In Nabarangpur Over Sharing Of Mutton Curry

Nabarangpur: A woman allegedly killed herself after receiving a reprimand from her mother for sharing mutton curry in a village in the Nabarangpur region of Odisha.

The 25-year-old woman and her two older sisters reportedly prepared mutton curry on Saturday night in their home in Gurusingha village, which is under the jurisdiction of Raighar police. According to reports, they consumed the curry without saving any for their mother. She reprimanded her daughters over the incident, accusing them of failing to take care of her.

The woman, who has been identified as Aruna Majhi, attempted suicide by hanging herself with a scarf after becoming upset by her mother's reprimand. She was taken to Umarkote Hospital and subsequently, after her health worsened, transferred to Nabarangpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). According to the sources, she, or whoever she was, passed away on Sunday while receiving care at the DHH.

The body was sent for a postmortem and a case of unnatural death was reported, according to the police, who also indicated that an investigation into the incident was ongoing.
