Voyage On River Prachi Held To Commemorate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav
Bhubaneswar: The crew of 4 Naval personnel and 4 Odisha Veterans of Veterans Club had two days of trip on the ancient River Prachi as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav and Swarnim Vijay Varsha festivities.
The journey commenced on 18 October, managed jointly by the Indian Navy and Veterans Club of Odisha, with Naval Officer-in-Charge logistical and administrative assistance (Odisha).
Commodore Dinabandhu Jena (NM), NM, VSM, Retd Navy Foundation President, Odisha Chapter, from Sana Mundali, was flagged with the "Nau Yatra."
The boat traversed a number of ghats along the famous Prachi River during the Nau Yatra. The purpose of the two-day trip was to retrace the old commercial roads of the Prachi River that lead to Bengal Bay.
The event also sought to increase the public's knowledge of the role and value of the Indian Navy, particularly in the war of 1971.
The journey concluded in the temple of Baleswar, in Puri area where the Bay of Bengal is found. The squad was met by Naval Officer Cmde NP Pradeep (Odisha). On the occasion of an interaction with the Nau Yatra Team, Mr Tusharkanti Behera, Astarang MLA, was also here.
