Retd headmaster dies by suicide on railway track in Sambalpur

Sambalpur: Khirod Kumar Nath, a former school headmaster, was discovered dead on railroad tracks Tuesday near Sindurpank in Odisha's Sambalpur district.

On June 30, 2022, he announced his retirement as the headmaster of Tamperkela High School.

According to sources, he is thought to have committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train. Near the deceased, a note allegedly written by Nath was discovered. The deceased claimed that four of his former coworkers—Subal Barik, Murari Prasad Patel, Jagdish Sahu, and Sanjeev Patel—hatched a plot to discredit him and were therefore to blame for his decision to take the drastic measure.

According to information provided to the media by his brother, the people listed in the letter are employees of the school where he retired. "Jagdish Sahu is the Hindi instructor; one is a clerk, and the other two are classroom teachers. He indicated that they might have tampered with the documentation to the point that he committed suicide.

An investigation into the incident has been opened by the police.
