Puri: A school headmaster has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a minor girl student in Odisha's Puri district's Krushnaprasad area.
According to sources, the incident occurred on Saturday at a government upper primary school in Nuapada, which is under the jurisdiction of the district's Krushnaprasad police station.
According to a complaint filed by the girl's family, the headmaster, identified as P K Khuntia, allegedly asked the girl of class VII to stay after classes and water the plants on the school grounds.
According to the complaint, after all of the other students had gone home, the minor girl was watering the plants when the headmaster sexually assaulted her and asked her not to tell anyone.
After returning home, the girl told her family about the incident. On Sunday, her family members filed a police complaint against the headmaster. According to the sources, police registered a case and arrested the headmaster based on the complaint, and an investigation is ongoing.
