Bhubaneswar: From the Union Budget 2022-23, the Odisha government expects increased investment for important sectors including as railways, highways, telecom, and power.
During a pre-Budget meeting with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Odisha's Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari presented the state's demands to the Centre.
The following are some of the state's primary budget expectations:
* Rs 25,000 crore for disaster-proof electrical infrastructure in the state's cyclone-prone coastal areas.
* Rs 900 crore to build 1,000 mobile towers in rural regions to increase connectivity.
* Rs 7,600 crore for railway infrastructure development, with a focus on enhancing connection to ports, mining belts, and tribal areas.
* In Odisha, there will be a second AIIMS. Sundargarh district has been submitted to the Centre for the establishment of a second AIIMS.
* Industries, small and medium-sized businesses, and real estate developers anticipate relief in the form of easier access to finances and loans, increased subsidies, direct and indirect tax rebates, and GST reductions.
