Odisha CM reviews flood situation

Bhubaneswar: Tuesday at 11 a.m., in a meeting, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is set to discuss the flood situation in the state.
Senior representatives from a number of departments, including the SRC and representatives from the Water Resources Department, will reportedly attend the review meeting. Large portions of Odisha are under flood hazard as a result of rising river water levels. There are already many people living in safer locations who used to live in flood-prone areas.
The Hirakud dam reservoir's surplus water release is probably going to come up at today's meeting. On Monday, the dam's eight sluice gates were shut in an effort to stop any significant flooding in the downstream communities. Collectors from each district have been instructed to patrol embankments. At six in the morning on Tuesday, the water level in the Hirakud dam had risen past 625 feet. The dam's 26 sluice gates have all been left open to let extra floodwaters out.
In the Kujang area of the Jagatsinghpur district, the river's embankment has been breached due to the rise in Mahanadi's water level. The Cuttack-Banki road is completely submerged. While water from the Rajua and Daya rivers has invaded various villages in Khurda, the Debi river near Dalei Ghai is at 58.60 feet, which is higher than the 57 feet danger level.
It is important to note that around August 19, a new low pressure region is predicted to develop over the northwest Bay of Bengal.
