Odisha CM claims meeting with PM was courtesy call

Bhubaneswar: Naveen Patnaik, the Chief Minister of Odisha, claimed on Monday that his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi was merely a courtesy call.

"Due to the pandemic, I haven't been able to meet him (PM)." "We talked about a few things about Odisha, and I requested for his help," he said.

According to accounts, the meeting at the South Block lasted about 30 minutes.

The CM further stated that at 6.30 p.m., he would make a courtesy visit to Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss issues that demand his assistance. "Nothing about the presidential election was discussed," he claimed.

The two leaders are expected to address the upcoming presidential election in July, as the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government is approximately 1.2 percent short of the total votes required for its nominee to win. The BJD has 112 MLAs and 12 MPs, accounting for roughly 3% of the total vote value of 1,093,347.

Naveen is in the capital for the third time in two months, and he will return to Odisha on Wednesday afternoon.
