Miscreants chase woman SI, threaten with sword in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Unidentified assailants allegedly threatened a female sub-inspector (SI) of the Mahila police station near the Reserve Police Office in Odisha's capital late Tuesday.
According to authorities, the incident occurred about 1.30 a.m. as the woman cop, Subhashree Nayak, was driving home from night duty in her automobile. While she was driving via the Science Park way to her lodgings near the Reserve Police Office, the miscreants, who were thought to be inebriated, approached her car in an SUV.
They began insulting Nayak and pursuing her car. She did, however, manage to drive through the Reserve Police Office's back gate. Following that, someone from the SUV pulled out a sword and threatened to kill her.
Nayak immediately filed a report at the Saheed Nagar police station, demanding harsh action. A case was filed against her on the basis of her complaint under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
According to the sources, police were checking CCTV cameras to identify the miscreants and the vehicle.
Nayak, who was based in Malkangiri at the time, received commendation from South celebrity Chiranjeevi in 2020 for feeding an old woman during the COVID lockdown.
