New Delhi: On Monday afternoon, there was panic outside the Supreme Court after a man and woman allegedly attempted to light themselves on fire.

After the incident at Gate D on Bhagwan Das Road, the injured couple was brought to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital for treatment. The area was blocked off right away.

The reason for the duo's suspected attempt at self-immolation has yet to be determined by police. Their identities haven't been revealed yet.

“Police officers stationed at the court's entrance saw them and hurried over with blankets to put out the fire. The two were taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in a police van and are being treated,” said Deepak Yadav, DCP (New Delhi).

At the scene, cops discovered kerosene, which was reportedly used to start the fire.

Bystander videos show some males attempting to put out the fire while police officers poured water on the woman who was enveloped in flames.
