Bhubaneswar: Odisha's anti-corruption sleuths apprehended a Soil Conservation Overseer on Monday for allegedly accepting a Rs 35,000 bribe to process documents for the release of payment for MGNREGA works in Kalahandi district.

According to a vigilance release, the accused, identified as Dhanujaya Dhoba and posted in Thuamul Rampur, allegedly demanded Rs 35,000 from a beneficiary in order to process the documents for the release of payment in his favour and other beneficiaries under MGNREGA towards work relating to the digging of staggered trenches.

A trap was set up based on a complaint, and the accused was caught accepting the bribe. The entire bribe money has been recovered and seized from the accused Dhoba's possession.

Following the trap, searches are being conducted in two locations in Dhoba from the Disproportionate Assets (DA) angle.

In this regard, a case has been filed against Dhoba, and an investigation is underway. According to the release, this accused was previously involved in a DA case.
