Heavy rain alert issued in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Sunday anticipated heavy rain for various districts of Odisha until 8.30 a.m. on June 24 due to favourable circumstances for the southwest monsoon to progress further.
While the monsoon arrived in Odisha on June 16, it is expected to spread across the entire state in the coming days. "Conditions are favourable for monsoon to advance into some more parts of Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and northwest Bay of Bengal, some more parts of Chhattisgarh and Odisha, remaining parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, and some more parts of Bihar, and some parts of northeast Uttar Pradesh over the next 2-3 days," the MeT office said.
Thunderstorm activity will continue till 8.30 a.m. on June 22 in Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, and Mayurbhanj, with heavy rainfall expected in one or two locations.
