Bhubaneswar: The Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar projected this morning that the Kalabaisakhi (nor'wester) is likely to affect several areas of Odisha over the next five days.
A few locations in 14 districts, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinhpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Khurda, were also expected to see significant rainfall, according to the centre. In addition, there will be two locations in the rest of the State where mild to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms will occur.
In light of the prediction, the IMD has issued a yellow alert to all districts.
Towards the conclusion of the current month, a low pressure region may emerge in the northwest Bay of Bengal close to the coast of Odisha. Rainfall is anticipated across the State for a week from July 1 to 7 as a result of its effects.
According to the weather office, Odisha had gotten 92.3 mm of rain as of June 23 as opposed to the expected 166.9 mm. Only Boudh among the districts has seen rainfall that is 35% above average. All other districts recorded less rainfall than normal, with the exception of Angu, Nuapada, Dhenkanal, and Nayagarh.
