False job promise at AIIMS: 4 arrested for duping job aspirants of lakhs of rupees
Bhubaneswar: The Cyber Police arrested four people for allegedly defrauding job seekers out of lakhs of rupees by falsely promising employment at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar.
Badal Das (23), Sanjay Kumar Sahoo (26), Sunil Sethi (29) and Ajaya Kumar Jena (23) were arrested (25).
According to police, the fraudsters were soliciting applications for various positions at the premier institute via fake advertisements on a Facebook account they had created. They introduced themselves as the HR director of the premier medical facility.
After receiving a response from an aspirant, the accused would contact them and demand money. They demanded Rs 30,000 for each job and ended up collecting around Rs 2.28 lakh.
It was also claimed that the fraudsters, who pretended to be doctors, were handing out fake appointment letters to job seekers and taking money from them.
The arrest came after some victims filed a complaint with the Cyber Police Station, claiming they had been duped out of Rs 2.28 lakh. The four fraudsters were apprehended after a thorough investigation.
According to the sources, the police also seized Rs 80,000 in cash, mobile phones, and pre-activated mobile SIM cards from their possession.
