Dense Fog Blankets in Parts of Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Odisha saw a somewhat warmer night for the second day after a week of bitter cold, with warm air from the Bay of Bengal pushing up minimum temperatures, although dense fog shrouded numerous sections of the state on Monday morning.
The regional meteorological centre in here reported'very dense fog' in the districts of Koraput (30 m visibility) and Bolangir (40 m visibility).
Balasore (50 m), Angul and Baripada (100 m), Keonjhar, Phulbani, and Malkangiri all reported dense fog (150 m). Visibility is indicated by figures in brackets.
On Monday morning, the Met Center in this city tweeted a satellite photograph of the fog cover over the state.
Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Malkangiri, and Koraput districts received a Yellow warning for dense fog on Sunday from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Following the warning, the Special Relief Commissioner's office issued an advisory to the collectors involved.
People got a break from the extreme cold wave that swept the state last week for the second night in a row. On Monday night, Daringbadi had the coldest temperature in the state, with a low of 11.5 degrees Celsius. Only Koraput — at 14 degrees Celsius — had a night temperature below 15 degrees Celsius after Daringbadi. Temperatures in the rest of the state were above 15 degrees Celsius at night.
