Puri: On Wednesday in connection with the Malkhana' explosion, the sub-Inspector of the Balanga Police Station in the district of Puri was suspended for job derelictions.
S.I. Tapoi Nayak, was in charge of the police station 'malkhana,' where the explosives were housed following searches, was given the suspension order by Puri SP. Kanwar Vishal Singh.
Monday midnight was the event. The strength of the explosion was so great that a section of the police station's ceiling was blasted away and all assets, including all files and electronics, were ruined totally. No one was wounded, though. Saroj Behera, a centurion in the night service had a close escape from the police station after hearing the blast. He rushed out from the police station.
