Protest against illegal occupation of pasture land, Vehicle Movement affected
Dhenkanal: The National Highway-149 traffic in the region was paralysed since the villagers of the area went on a Wednesday morning, when the authorities fought 'rasta roko' protests against some people who built houses on government grazing property.
According to reports, beneath the Prajang police limit, the Biribolei village residents brought the state government to the knowledge of certain unscrupulous persons who deprived them of green food of their unlawful occupancy and building of government weeds.
Since no move has been done, they filed a complaint at Kamashyanagar with the deputy collector on 21 September. They vowed to resort to agitation by demanding urgent action to expel the illegally occupied persons of the land in seven days.
"We have requested 'rasta roko' to attract his attention, given that the administration remains indifferent about the true requests we have made numerous times. We will carry on our protest till the government provide us a guarantee that the pasture of illegal occupation will be removed," said Trilochan Sahu, a Dharna villager.
In the meantime, the police has hurried to the place to prevent unhealthy incidents, as cars on both sides of the site lined up along the National Highway.
