Berhampur: On Friday morning, a dead dolphin washed up on Pati Sonepur beach in the Ganjam district of Odisha.
A sizable crowd gathered at the beach when word got out. Officials from the Berhampur Forest Division hurried to the scene and started looking into the death's cause.
Locals expressed concern over the numerous occurrences of dead dolphins washing ashore as efforts were made to make Pati Sonepur a "Blue Flag" beach to attract tourists.
The dolphin may have passed away from old age, according to forest officials. They said that the postmortem report will reveal the cause.
