Congress Student Wing Stage Protest against CM visit to Puri

Puri: On Monday, activists from the Odisha Congress' student wing demonstrated in Puri, Odisha, to oppose Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's planned visit to the pilgrim town to attend the BJD's foundation day celebration.
Before the Chief Minister arrived in the beach resort, numerous student Congress activists with placards and posters gathered near the district headquarters hospital and chanted anti-BJD chants.
Protesters chanted shouts such as "Naveen Patnaik Go Back" and "BJD Government Hai Hai," alleging that the state government had done nothing for the development of Puri during its 23-year rule.
Protesters attempted to march towards the venue of the BJD celebration before being halted by police, claiming that Naveen had no right to visit the pilgrim town that has been neglected.
Police officers rushed at the scene and stopped the demonstrators from moving forward, taking many of them into custody as a precautionary measure, according to sources.
