Bhubaneswar: In the Urban Local Body (ULB) elections in Odisha, voters queued outside booths as polling for three municipal corporations, 47 municipalities, and 59 NACs began on Thursday. Voting started at 8 a.m. and will end at 5 p.m.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik voted in Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Ward 53 at booth 544 at Aerodrome Upper Primary School (BMC).

Naveen walked the distance of about 200 metres from his home, 'Naveen Nivas,' to the booth.

Security guards escorted the CM. He emerged from the booth later and flashed his inked finger.

In the morning, EVM malfunctions caused polling to be delayed at many booths. Athagarh, G. Udayagiri NAC, Nayapalli in Bhubaneswar, and Nuapada NAC all experienced EVM glitches.

In Odisha's ULB elections, about 40.55 lakh voters will exercise their right to vote.

A total of 22,000 poll workers are on the job. 195 police platoons are on duty, including 30 for the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), 20 for the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), and 10 for the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BMC) (BeMC).
