BJP MLA Bishnu Sethi’s mortal remains consigned to flames in native village

Bhadrak: Senior BJP official and Dhamnagar MLA Bishnu Charan Sethi was cremated late on Monday night in his home village of Mangarajpur in Tihidi in Odisha's Bhadrak district after passing away on Monday from difficulties relating to his kidneys.
Suraj Suryavanshi, the late leader's son, lighted the funeral pyre as mourners bid the late leader a sorrowful farewell.
Sethi passed away while receiving treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)-Bhubaneswar. The legislator spent the previous month in the ICU of the hospital.
He served as vice-president of the state BJP unit and the deputy leader of the opposition in the Odisha Assembly. Sethi, who was born in Mangarajpur in 1961, was also a poet and author.
Firebrand Congress MLA Suresh Routray expressed his sympathies on Monday, saying that while political parties like the BJP, Congress, and BJD may always remain, Odisha would never have a lawmaker like Sethi, who was praised by all for his simplicity.
Along with a host of other prominent figures, President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended a memorial service for the politician.
"Saddened by the passing of Shri Bishnu Charan Sethi, an important figure in Odisha's public life. Shri Sethi was a well-known author as well as a respected legislator. His passing leaves a vacuum that is challenging to fill. I send my my condolences to his family, friends, and followers," Murmu wrote in a tweet.
Modi tweeted, "Shri Bishnu Charan Sethi Ji made an amazing contribution to Odisha's prosperity, expressing his sorrow and sending his condolences. He distinguished himself as a dedicated lawmaker and made a significant contribution to societal empowerment. I'm saddened by his passing. We send our condolences to his family and friends. Shanti Om
