Bhubaneswar: With a large number of devotees flocking to Lingaraj temple on the occasion of Maha Shivratri, the Commissionerate Police has made elaborate security arrangements and imposed traffic curbs to ensure that darshan at the shrine is as hassle-free as possible.

The Commissionerate of Police has issued an advisory regarding restrictions on vehicular movement and traffic diversion on roads leading to the 11th century Shiva shrine, according to police.

The curbs have been clamped to prevent devotees and other commuters from having difficulty reaching the shrine. The goal is for them to have a smooth darshan and ritual performance at the temple.

According to the police traffic advisory, vehicles, including four and two wheelers, heading towards Lingaraj Temple from Rath Road and Punarna gate side will be diverted from Badheibanka square to the BM High School ground for parking. Heavy vehicles will not be permitted on Rath Road from the Mausima Temple Square side.

Vehicles traveling towards Lingaraj Temple from Kedar Gouri Temple and Sanitarium Chowk may use the Koti tirtha lane via Kacherapindi Chhak and park at vacant spaces on the northern side of Ananta Basudev Temple and the rear side of Taranga Club, respectively. Owners of three-wheelers can park their vehicles near the back side of Ananta Basudev Temple.

Vehicle movement through Koti Tirtha lane will be restricted to one direction from the Sidhi Mandap Lane side. Vehicles (four and two-wheelers) coming from Samanatrapur will be allowed to enter Sri Ram Nagar but will be diverted to the northern side of Ananta Basudev Temple and the rear side of Taranga Club for parking.

Three-wheelers can be parked in a space near the back of Ananta Basudev Temple.

Buses coming from Samantarapur will be parked inside the BMC's new market complex. Vehicles approaching Lingaraj Temple from the Keuta Sahi side will be diverted from Kedar lane to the BMC market complex/Ananta Basudev parking and other designated parking areas via sub-station square.

Vehicles traveling from Tara Sundari Road to Lingaraj Temple will not be permitted up to Badheibanka Chhak and will be routed from Municipality Hospital to the BM High School Ground for parking, according to the advisory.
