Bhubaneswar: A special bomb squad defused suspected explosives recovered from the Konark Express at Bhubaneswar railway station the day before on the Kuakhai riverbed in a controlled explosion on Friday.

According to sources, the explosives were discovered in the general coach of the Konark Express around 3 a.m., after the train arrived on platform no. 2. He also noticed some noises and smoke coming from the bag.

The explosives were seized by RPF personnel and stored in the station safe room. According to preliminary investigation, the materials seized contained a red parachute signal rocket, which is typically used as a distress flare for search and rescue operations.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has registered a case at Bhubaneswar railway station, and CCTV footage is being examined for any clues, according to the sources.
