Bhubaneswar: The bodies of two more students who went missing in the Kuakhai near Dhabalahar village of Bainchua panchayat under Balianta block on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar were discovered on Wednesday morning, bringing the total number of deaths in the river tragedy to four.

The bodies of two other students were recovered from the river the day before.

Aryan Mishra of Jamshedpur, Kumar Avinash of Cuttack, Rohit Parida of Balasore, and Prateek Dhalasamanta of Balikuda have been identified as the deceased.

According to sources, eight friends from the city's private management college went to the river to take a bath, and four of them are suspected of falling into deep waters before being swept away by the strong current.

The search for the mishap site was halted last night by Fire Service personnel and some scuba divers. Two more bodies were recovered this morning, resuming the operation. "They had arrived around 2 p.m. to take a bath. We found out about the accident around 5 p.m. "With the assistance of locals, the police and firefighters' teams were able to recover the bodies of the missing students," Balianta police station IIC Jubaraj Swain said.

This is the second drowning incident in the river in less than a month. Two engineering students from Bhubaneswar and Angul drowned here on May 27.
