K Ranga Achari and K Janardhan Achari of Bada Bazaar have been identified as the deceased.
According to sources, the staff of Biju Patnaik Park spotted two bodies floating in the park's pond this morning and notified police, who recovered the bodies and sent them for postmortem.
The two brothers are said to have left their house around 3 p.m. on Monday after a fight over their drinking habits. They had previously threatened to commit suicide if they were not allowed to consume alcohol, according to the sources.
Police have launched an investigation to determine when the Achari brothers entered the park and what happened to them in the pond.
