Vigilance raids at residence of Tamando SI in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: On the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday morning, vigilance sleuths raided the houses of a sub-inspector posted (SI) at Tomando police station in Odisha's capital on charges of possession of excessive assets.
According to sources, the vigilance squad, which included three Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSP), 11 Inspectors, six Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASIs), and other personnel, conducted simultaneous searches at three locations related with SI Abhimanyu Chaudhury.
According to sources, about 3.30 a.m., a hefty bag was allegedly dropped into a drain beside Chaudhury's house in Delta Square. The anti-corruption department contacted his neighbor, who agreed to participate with the inquiry, and searched the open drainage route, suspecting cash within the bag.
During the operation, the following assets were discovered in Choudhury and his family members' names:

2) A one-story structure in Nachhipur, Nayagarh
3) Eight plots, seven in good localities near Bhubaneswar and one in Nichhipur, Nayagarh. The Vigilance Technical Wing performs the plots' measurements and valuation/assessment.
4) Approximately Rs.78.80 lakhs in bank deposits.
5) Cash over Rs.1.75 lakh.
