Two Maoists Killed In Encounter With Security Forces In Koraput

Koraput: On Friday, two Maoists were killed in a firefight with security troops inside a jungle in Odisha's Koraput district.

The gunfight occurred while security forces, including members of the elite Special Operations Group (SOG) and district police, were conducting a combing operation in Malipadar forest in the district's Boipariguda area.

According to accounts, security personnel began patrolling the forest after receiving information about the presence of ultras.

When the red insurgents opened fire while the combing was in progress, the security forces replied, and two Maoists were killed in the ensuing firefight, according to a senior police official.

The search operation in the region is still ongoing, and more information is awaited. While several ultras are said to have fled the scene, efforts are being made to determine if there are any weapons or ammo in the woodland.
