Bhubaneswar: For "Chheli Chareibara Dina," an Odia translation of Malayalam novel "Aadujeevitham" by Uday Parkash, writer and columnist Gourahari Das will get the Sahitya Akademi Translation Prize for the year 2021.

The Akademi announced on Friday that twenty-two novels had been chosen for this category.

At a ceremony later this year, Das will be presented with a copper plaque and a financial reward of Rs 50,000.

Notably, this is the second Akademi honour he has received. The Sahitya Akademi Award was given to Das' collection of 16 short stories, "Kanta O' Anyanya Galpa," which offers a picture of rural Odisha.

In addition to 14 collections of short stories, five novels, a drama, and anthologies of poems, essays, and features, he has so far written 47 books total. In 2000, Das' contribution to literature earned him the state's Sahitya Akademi Award.
