Party Politics Brings Congress Leaders Tara Prasad Bahinipati And Mohammed Moquim Face To Face

Bhubaneswar: While Congress is preparing to conduct a statewide padayatra modelled after the Bharat Jodo Yatra from Bhubaneswar on October 31, internal party strife once again surfaced on Tuesday when two top leaders began arguing in public.
Mohammed Moquim, a legislator for Cuttack-Barabati, claimed he skipped the September 18 meeting at the Congress Bhawan with senior national figures Jairam Ramesh and Digvijay Singh because he was awaiting a response from the party on his response to the show-case notice.
A show-cause letter was sent to the Congress lawmaker for defying the party line and supporting Droupadi Murmu of the NDA in the presidential vote on July 22. He was required to give his reply within two weeks, according to OPCC president Sarat Pattanayak.
"I have not heard back from the party on my reply. I haven't been informed if the party president is considering taking action against me. I am aware of the possibility of disciplinary action or expulsion from the party. I have chosen not to attend any official meetings of Congress because my standing inside the party is still unclear, he informed the media.
Moquim declared that he will continue to serve the party, but only within the boundaries of his district and the city of Cuttack.
He (Moquim) was elected MLA on a Congress platform, according to senior party official and Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, who responded to his remark. This could be his personal viewpoint. People won't accept it if he criticises the party, he said.
Bahinipati claimed that show-cause notice and explanations are not significant concerns in any political party and that Moquim should be aware of them since he is a senior leader. He should not take such a stance as he was just elected as an MLA. Although I was a four-time MLA, I was frequently thrown in the trash and occasionally honoured by party leaders. Moquim is a knowledgeable and prudent leader. He ought to be aware that individuals are irrelevant in a massive party like Congress.
