Over 1 kg of brown sugar seized, 1 arrested

Balasore: In the Balasore district, the Odisha Crime Branch's Special Task Force (STF) has detained one person and confiscated more than one kilogramme of brown sugar.
On the basis of information received, an STF team from Bhubaneswar carried out a raid Tuesday near a railroad crossing in Aradabazar, Balasore, and captured drug dealer Sheikh Mezu of Arad Bazar within the jurisdiction of the Sahadevkhunta police.
Brown sugar weighing 1.05 kg, Rs 28,100 in cash, and other incriminating items were discovered in his possession and taken into custody during the search. The accused Sheikh Mezu was detained and brought before the court because he was unable to show a legitimate document to prove his possession of the illegal substance.
In this regard, the STF has filed a complaint under the NDPS Act of 1985. Additional research is being done.
According to a press release, the STF has arrested more than 157 drug dealers/peddlers and recovered more than 56 kg of brown sugar, 202 grammes of cocaine, more than 111 quintals of ganja, 750 grammes of opium, and more during its special drive against narcotic narcotics since 2020.
