Odisha BJP accuses Govt of hiding Kashipur cholera death figures

Bhubaneswar: In the Odisha Assembly on Tuesday, the opposition BJP took aim at the state government over diarrhoea deaths in the Kasipur block of the Rayagda district.
During zero hour in the House, BJP Chief Whip Mohan Majhi brought up the subject and claimed that the government was misrepresenting the number of casualties. The administration has listed the number of casualties as 9, despite the fact that 14 persons in Kasipur have died from diarrhoea.
The remaining 5 victims of the virus should have their deaths' causes determined by post-mortem, according to Majhi.
Later, during a news conference, Majhi stated that the main contributors to the diarrhoea outbreak in the block are the intake of contaminated water and unsanitary food. The lack of infrastructure, he continued, deprives the populace of its fundamental requirements.
The actual picture is not the same as what the administration is portraying. There are no sewers or drinking water facilities nearby. There, a similar circumstance occurs every year. Majhi suggested that the government provide a long-term solution.
Nuapada's diarrhoea
In the meantime, diarrhoea has spread to the Nuapada district's Komna block, where one person has died and 20 more have contracted the illness.
The diarrhoea cases, according to sources, were recorded from Jatagada village in the block. The District Headquarters Hospital has taken in the sick people (DHH). A medical team has also hurriedly arrived to assess the circumstance.
