Medical Officer nabbed while taking bribe from auto-rickshaw driver in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: The Medical Officer of Gairabahal Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Sundargarh district was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance on Friday while reportedly receiving a bribe of Rs 4,000 from an autorickshaw driver.
On July 17, the autorickshaw was involved in an accident that left the driver and two passengers hurt. The driver brought the patients to Gairabahal PHC where Dr. Sarada Prasanna Behera allegedly sought a Rs. 12,000 bribe before treating them. Otherwise, he allegedly threatened to tell the police.
The driver gave 8,000 rupees. After setting a trap, the Vigilance later caught Dr. Behera with 4,000 rupees.
The Rourkela Vigilance police station has received a case.
