Man beheads minor girl in Sambalpur village
Sambalpur: On Friday morning, a young man allegedly cut a juvenile girl to death and paraded her severed head around his hamlet in the district.
According to sources, the 8-year-old girl, identified as the daughter of Naba Kishore Dharua of Kasada village in Jamankira police limits, had gone to the neighbouring forest with her parents in the morning to collect Mohua flowers. The girl wandered away from her parents while they were at work.
When the adolescent, identified as Prashant Bagra of the same hamlet, discovered the girl alone, he decapitated her with an axe and carried her head back to the community. Some locals caused a ruckus as he walked along the rural road. The boy, terrified by the villagers' yelling, threw his head near a tubewell and began running away.
The villagers, on the other hand, apprehended Prashant and bound him. When the police station in Jamankira was alerted, officers led by IIC Premjit Das hurried to the area and detained Prashant.
Prashant committed the heinous deed, and police have opened an investigation to find out why he did so.
