Koraput: In the Koraput area, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Odisha Crime Branch has arrested one guy and seized a leopard skin.

On Tuesday, a team of STF conducted a raid on the side of the road near the Ramgir Gupteswar Gate of the Ramagiri Wildlife Range within the Baipariguda police limits on the basis of credible information about an ongoing deal on wildlife products. They were assisted by Ramgir Forest Officials from the district.

Mana Gouda, a wildlife criminal from the Goudaguda police station in the district, was captured during the operation by the squad. A leopard skin and other evidence were discovered during the hunt from his possession.

The accused person was held and sent over to Ramgir Forest Officials under the Jeypore Forest Division for legal action because he was unable to produce any official documentation to prove his possession of the leopard skin. Additional research is being done.

Since 2020, STF has taken 43 criminals into custody and collected 30 leopard skins as part of a specific drive against wildlife criminals and poachers.
