Bhawanipatna: Protests over the death of Mamita Meher have intensified, with the Congress opposing yet another minister's visit. On Wednesday, on a visit to Thuamul Rampur in the district, Sports Minister Tusharkanti Behera drew the wrath of the Congress.
According to sources, the Minister was on his way to Dumerpadar hamlet, which is under the Thuamul Rampur police jurisdiction, to distribute Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) smart cards when congress members threw eggs at his vehicle at T Rampur.
They also waved black flags at the Minister and shouted slogans against CM Naveen Patnaik, asking that Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra be removed from office and arrested for his strong ties to Gobinda Sahu, the main suspect in the Kalahandi school teacher murder case.
The police detained the protesting Congress members, and enough bandobast was put in place to ensure law and order in the wake of the Minister's arrival.
