Hyva-bus collision in Jharsuguda: Toll rises to 7

Jharsuguda: Seven people died as a result of the collision between a bus and a Hyva truck on the Sambalpur-Jharsuguda Biju Expressway on Friday night.
The casualties were JSW Bhushan Power and Steel Ltd. employees. Around 7 p.m. on Friday, the disaster happened as they were travelling back to Jharsuguda in the bus from JSW's plant in Thelkuli. In the bus were 60 employees. The tragedy resulted in the injuries of over 20 workers.
The truck carrying coal struck two cows close to Sarbahal before jumping the road divider and colliding with the bus.
Locals came to the aid of the hurt workers and hurried them to the district hospital, where six of them were later transferred to VIMSAR in Burla.
The cost of their medical care is covered by the district administration. For their care, a group of specialists have also been hired.
The district headquarters hospital is treating four workers while six others who suffered significant injuries were sent to VIMSAR and around 18 workers were released after receiving primary care. Some injured workers are receiving treatment at another hospital, and Saroj Samal, the Jharsuguda Collector, told the media that their conditions are stable.
