High Security number plate deadline extended yet again in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: In Odisha, the deadline for affixing the High-Security Registration Plate (HSRP) on vehicles has been extended by another month.
According to sources, the Odisha government submitted an affidavit in the Orissa High Court stating that the deadline for vehicles with registration numbers ending in 1, 2, 3, and 4 has been extended till December 31, 2022. The previous deadline was November 30, 2022.
The deadline for vehicles with registration numbers ending in 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 0 stays the same.
The deadline was extended for the fourth time. It stated that no action will be performed if the car owners have reserved their slots for affixing HSRP.
In a press release issued on November 15, Dipti Ranjan Patra, Joint Commissioner, Transport, Technical stated, "For the convenience of vehicle owners, the department has extended the deadline three times." Vehicle owners who do not have internet access or understanding of technology can apply for HSRP through a nearby Mo Seva Kendra or HSRP facilitation centers at RTO at their leisure."
The OEMs (vehicle manufacturers) have also opened camp fitment centers/temporary fitment centers at 88 locations and places, i.e. government/private establishments where all OEMs' dealer networks are not available, and have begun HSRP fitment. Some OEMs also provide fitment facilities at some RTO offices.
Notably, the state of Odisha has made HSRP required for all vehicle classes registered prior to April 1, 2019.
