Heavy rainfall in 16 districts due to a low pressure over the Bay
Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) warned on Thursday that a low-pressure region that emerged over the northwest part of the Bay of Bengal and its environs this morning is likely to bring heavy rain to 16 districts in Odisha.
The low-pressure area formed around 8.30 a.m., according to the regional centre here. One or two locations in Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Sambalpur, and Deogarh, as well as one or two locations in the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Keonjhar, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Sundargarh, are likely to have heavy to very heavy rainfall.
“Another LOPAR is likely to form over the North Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood around July 27. Under its influence, widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls are likely over east and adjoining central and northwest India during July 26-27,” it said.
Most parts of Odisha will receive heavy rainfall till next week, it added.
