Cuttack: The much-anticipated historic Baliyatra is slated to begin today with pomp and gaiety on the Baliyatra Padia in the millennium city.
While thousands of people are expected to flock to the city to celebrate Baliyatra, the district and CMC administrations have taken every effort to ensure that the event runs smoothly. This year, people are likely to be drawn in by the light and sound along the Mahanadi riverbed.
While the historic fair was not held for the last two years owing to Covid, thousands of people are expected to attend every day this year.
Hundreds of stalls selling anything from household items to vehicles have been set up on the ground. Revellers will be able to sample a variety of foods from food stalls located throughout the area. At the Cuttack Bali Yatra, a meal known as Thunka Puri is regarded exceptional.
Baliyatra will also be heavily promoted in the capital city of Bhubaneswar and the port city of Paradip.
