Keonjhar: On Monday night, a couple was allegedly shot dead in Lasarda village, Balani police limits, in Odisha's Keonjhar district.
Laxmidhar Apat and his wife Manjulata Apat have been recognized as the victims.
The pair, according to sources, maintained a modest food store in the hamlet. On Monday night, a gang of miscreants came to their store to buy gasoline, and a fight ensued for whatever reason.
Later in the altercation, the accused group of persons opened fire on the couple and fled the scene. Their son, on the other hand, escaped unharmed.
Doctors declared the pair dead when they were taken to Barbil Community Health Centre (CHC).
Meanwhile, residents requested that the miscreants be apprehended immediately.
