Bhubaneswar: Up to 44,245 students failed to show up for Odisha's yearly matriculation exams in 2022.

Samir Ranjan Dash, the minister of education for K–12, made this statement in response to a query from Tara Prasad Bahinipati, a congresswoman. The legislator wanted to know why candidates from each district weren't showing up for the exam and what the state administration was doing about it.

Giving information regarding the absent candidates, the Minister stated that the district of Mayurbhanj had the largest number of absences (4,462), followed by Ganjam (3,273).

Dash said that the relevant authorities have been instructed to look into the reasons that caused the pupils to miss the annual exams.
