New Delhi: Draupadi Murmu received Z+ security coverage from the Centre on Wednesday, a day after she was announced as the BJP-led NDA's presidential contender.
On Wednesday morning, CRPF soldiers took control of Murmu's security, who is 64.
The Union Home Ministry quickly ordered the CRPF to send out its VIP security protection squad for Murmu after her name was revealed on Tuesday.
Her home in Rairangpur, in the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha, has also seen an increase in security.
Murmu, a tribal leader from Odisha and a former governor of Jharkhand, offered prayers and cleaned Rairangpur's temples earlier on Wednesday morning. Later on in the day, she would depart for Delhi.
