Odisha Prepares for a Possible Cyclone: Fire Department Leaves Cancelled

Bhubaneswar: Santosh Kumar Upadhyay, DG, Odisha Fire Services, advised that leave for fire service personnel has been cancelled due to the possibility of a cyclonic storm emerging in the Bay of Bengal in the coming days.

Collectors in 18 districts across Odisha have been instructed to take all necessary precautions and remain prepared.

There are 17 NDRF, 20 ODRAF, and 175 fire departments on high alert.

The impending cyclone has drawn everyone's attention.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has not issued a forecast for the weather system that evolved into a low pressure system in the South Andaman Sea and its environs on Friday and is expected to grow into a cyclone. The chances of a cyclonic storm forming are strong, according to the IMD.

The IMD GFS predicts that the system would intensify into a very strong category storm, according to the North Indian Ocean Extended Range Outlook for Cyclogenesis.
