Odisha Govt appoints 2 senior IAS officers as OSD for Men’s Hockey World Cup

Bhubaneswar: For the 2023 Men's Hockey World Cup, scheduled to take place in January of that year, the Odisha government has recruited two senior IAS officers as Officers on Special Duty (OSD) in the state Sports Department.
Officer Bhupendra Singh Poonia from the 2007 batch will oversee the quadrennial world championship in Rourkela, while Reghu G from the 2011 batch has been given additional responsibilities in Bhubaneswar.
Reghy G is the Director of Technical Education and Training, Cuttack, Poonia is the Additional Secretary, Industries Department, Managing Director, Odisha Film Development Corporation, and MD, Idco.
The matches will be held at Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela and Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar from January 13 to 29, with Odisha serving as the event's host the second consecutive year.
Balwant Singh, the managing director of the Odisha Mineral Exploration Corporation Ltd. and the IDCOL, has been given the additional responsibilities of vice chairman of the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and managing director of the Bhubaneswar Smart City Ltd., according to a formal announcement made on October 1.
